How Australia classifies countries for pet imports
Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) divides the world into categories for pet imports. Your pathway to Australia depends entirely on which country your pet is coming from.
| Group | Countries | Quarantine |
|---|---|---|
| Group 1 | New Zealand | Nil — direct pathway |
| Group 2 | UK, USA, Republic of Ireland, Hawaii, Norfolk Island, Cocos Islands | Mickleham quarantine |
| Group 3 | Canada, Singapore, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland | Must spend 6 months in Group 2 country first + Mickleham quarantine |
| All others | Most of the world | Must spend 6 months in Group 2 country + Mickleham quarantine |
