EU pet import rules — how France works

France is an EU member state, meaning it follows the EU's harmonised pet import regulations. For pets entering from Australia (an unlisted third country), the requirements are consistent across all EU member states — what applies for France also applies for Germany, Italy, Spain, and other EU countries.

  • ISO 15-digit microchip (must be implanted before any vaccination)
  • Rabies vaccination — primary vaccination (not booster)
  • RNATT rabies titre test — blood sample 30+ days after vaccination
  • 21-day wait after titre test result confirmed
  • EU-format health certificate issued by accredited Australian vet
  • Government endorsement by DAFF
  • Arrival at an approved EU border inspection post (BIP)
Note: Since Brexit, France and the UK have separate health certificate requirements. If your ultimate destination is France via the UK, speak to us about the correct documentation for both legs.

Approved airlines and routing

Common approved routings from Australia to France (CDG/Paris):

  • Emirates — Melbourne/Sydney via Dubai (DXB) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
  • Singapore Airlines — via Singapore (SIN) to CDG
  • Qantas — via Dubai or Singapore to CDG
  • Cathay Pacific — via Hong Kong (HKG) to CDG

Paris CDG is an approved EU Border Inspection Post with live animal facilities. Rosardi confirms BIP availability and timing before booking.
